Infectious Diseases

Bacterial resistance is at an all-time high and threatening new viral infections have emerged, leading to high demand for this course. Many organisms including bacteria, viruses and fungi are capable of producing infectious disease in animals and humans. Almost every body tissue and organ may be affected by an infectious agent.

In this course, we discuss the classification of microorganisms and normal flora present in the human host. We also explore the host-parasite relationship in the pathogenesis of infectious diseases, and the physiological responses to infection. We review the pathophysiology of the most common infectious diseases and the pharmacology of the drug therapies used in their management.
